De twee schepen worden gebouwd in de China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing en zijn bedoeld om de capaciteit en flexibiliteit in het Europese kortafstandstransport te vergroten. Met deze bestelling komt het totale aantal schepen in aanbouw op vier.<\/p>\n<h3>Technologische vooruitgangen en milieuaspecten<\/h3>\n<p>De nieuwe PCTCs worden uitgerust met een capaciteit van elk 3000 CEU en zullen worden voorzien van moderne, multi-brandstof hybride aandrijfsystemen. Deze technologie is gericht op het optimaliseren van het brandstofverbruik en het verminderen van de emissies. Volgens Glenn Edvardsen, CEO van UECC, vertegenwoordigen de nieuwe schepen een belangrijke vooruitgang op het gebied van veiligheid, effici\u00ebntie en milieuprestaties. De schepen zullen bovendien worden uitgerust met een ballastvrije constructie, die het brandstofverbruik verder verlaagt en over realtime-emissiebewakingssystemen beschikt.<\/p>\n<p>De schepen zullen over negen dekken beschikken en een achterhelling met een capaciteit van 160 t bieden. Dit maakt het mogelijk om een verscheidenheid aan voertuigen en zware en grote ladingen te vervoeren, die normaal gesproken buiten het typische PCTC-segment vallen. De schepen zijn gepland voor levering begin 2028.<\/p>\n<h3>Focus op veiligheid en digitale oplossingen<\/h3>\n<p>Een centraal punt bij de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe schepen was veiligheid. Edvardsen benadrukt dat er een robuust veiligheidsconcept is ge\u00efmplementeerd, dat de brandbestrijding verbetert en uitgebreide monitoring- en reactiemogelijkheden integreert. De schepen moeten niet alleen voldoen aan de huidige voorschriften, maar ook rekening houden met toekomstige veiligheidsnormen.<\/p>\n<p>Daarnaast zal er een ge\u00efntegreerd digitaal systeem worden ge\u00efmplementeerd, dat de operationele processen optimaliseert en de besluitvorming ondersteunt. Deze digitale oplossingen zijn bedoeld om de prestaties te verbeteren en de transparantie gedurende de hele levensduur van de schepen te verhogen.<\/p>\n<p>Met deze nieuwe bestelling zal UECC in totaal negen dual-fuel LNG en multi-brandstof hybride PCTCs in zijn vloot hebben, die sinds 2016 in gebruik zijn. Deze schepen zijn ook ontworpen om toekomstige technologische innovaties en alternatieve brandstoffen te kunnen opnemen.<\/p>\n<h3>Toewijding aan duurzaamheid<\/h3>\n<p>UECC heeft zich gecommitteerd om de milieubelasting te verminderen door deel te nemen aan initiatieven zoals het &#8222;Sail for Change&#8220;-programma. Dit programma stelt autofabrikanten in staat om aanzienlijke besparingen te realiseren op de Scope-3-emissies.
