Met de ingebruikname van vier nieuwe, volledig elektrische containerkranen van de Suez-klasse op de Norfolk International Terminals (NIT) is de haven volgens eigen zeggen nu in staat om gelijktijdig ULCV&#8217;s af te handelen.<\/p>\n<p>De nieuwe containerkranen aanvullen de bestaande vloot van 29 kraaninstallaties in het diepwatergebied, die volgens de haven zijn ontworpen voor de afhandeling van de grootste containerschepen in het Atlantisch verkeer. Sarah J. McCoy, interim-CEO en directeur van de Virginia Port Authority, benadrukt dat deze infrastructuurinvestering een signaal naar de rederijen stuurt om hun overslagvolume in de haven van Virginia te verhogen. &#8222;Onze ligplaatscapaciteit groeit.
