De windlass, een apparaat dat de ankerlijn oprolt en de mooringlijnen aanspant, werd op 12 december in de haven van St. Marys beschadigd door sterke wind.<\/p>\n<p>Het in 1982 gebouwde schip zal volgens het artikel operationeel blijven bij windsterkten onder vijf op de Beaufort-schaal. De Isles of Scilly Steamship Group (ISSG), die verantwoordelijk is voor de exploitatie van het schip, heeft aangekondigd extra landingsboten, vliegtuigen en de passagiersveerboot &#8222;Scillonian III&#8220; in te zetten om de bevoorrading van de eilandbewoners met verse levensmiddelen te waarborgen. Zoals de ISSG aan de BBC heeft meegedeeld, is er naar opties voor de reparatie van de windlass gezocht, maar vanwege de leeftijd van het schip waren er geen vervangingsonderdelen meer beschikbaar.
