In aanwezigheid van ongeveer 300 gasten uit het bedrijfsleven en de politiek voerde doopmeter Elke B\u00fcdenbender de feestelijke doop uit bij de containerterminal Burchardkai (Athabaskakai) in de haven van Hamburg. Onder de gasten waren Hamburgs eerste burgemeester Peter Tschentscher en Daniel G\u00fcnther, minister-president van Sleeswijk-Holstein.<\/h5>\n<p>(Hamburg) Met de Hamburg Express-klasse markeert Hapag-Lloyd het begin van een nieuw tijdperk voor zijn vloot. In totaal zullen er tot 2025 twaalf ultramoderne grote containerschippen in dienst worden gesteld. Hiermee leveren ze een belangrijke bijdrage aan het klimaatneutraal opereren van de gehele Hapag-Lloyd vloot tot 2045. Dankzij hun baanbrekende dual-fuel-technologie kunnen ze in de toekomst ook met niet-fossiele brandstoffen zoals bio-methaan of e-methaan vrijwel zonder CO2-uitstoot worden aangedreven.<\/p>\n<p>Voorlopig wordt vloeibaar aardgas (LNG) gebruikt, waarmee de CO2-uitstoot met tot 25 procent en roetuitstoot met 95 procent kan worden verminderd. Bovendien dragen geavanceerde componenten zoals een geoptimaliseerde romp en een zeer effici\u00ebnte schroef bij aan het verminderen van het brandstofverbruik en de broeikasgasemissies. &#8220;Met de nieuwe Hamburg Express-klasse staat Hapag-Lloyd aan de vooravond van een tijdperk&#8221;, zegt Rolf Habben Jansen. &#8220;Met de zeer effici\u00ebnte schepen kunnen de emissies onmiddellijk en aanzienlijk worden verminderd. Tegelijkertijd zijn ze een belangrijke bouwsteen van onze strategie om de decarbonisatie stap voor stap vooruit te helpen. Met een lengte van bijna 400 meter en een capaciteit van 23.600 TEU is het het grootste vrachtschip dat ooit onder Duitse vlag heeft gevaren. De containerschippen van de Hamburg Express-klasse zullen uitsluitend de ladingintensie route tussen Azi\u00eb en Europa bevaren.
