Tot 2050 moet de gehele waardeketen van Ricoh klimaatneutraal zijn en wordt daarbij ondersteund door het CO2-platform BigMile. Het Japanse multinationale bedrijf maakt gebruik van de zogenaamde backcasting-methode. Bij deze aanpak worden eerst de einddoelen vastgesteld en vervolgens doelen als mijlpalen op de weg naar het bereiken van deze doelen gezet.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Karlsruhe\/Bergen op Zoom) Ricoh Europe wil tot 2030 40% minder CO2<\/sub> uitstoten in vergelijking met 2015. “We onderzoeken momenteel hoe de verschuiving van het verkeer naar andere modaliteiten invloed heeft. De BigMile-software helpt ons bij het berekenen van scenario’s”, zegt Stef Jacobs van Ricoh Europe.<\/p>\n

Een van deze doelen is de vermindering van de Scope 3-emissies volgens het Greenhouse Gas Protocol (het wereldwijd meest gebruikte protocol voor het berekenen van broeikasgasemissies) met 40% tot 2030. En dat is een sterke drijfveer voor het werk van Stef Jacobs, Transport Supervisor bij Ricoh Europe.<\/p>\n

Scope 3 omvat indirecte CO2<\/sub>-emissies die worden veroorzaakt door de bedrijfsactiviteiten van andere organisaties. Aangezien Ricoh Europe alle transportactiviteiten uitbesteedt, omvat Scope 3 daarom alle logistieke dienstverleners die verantwoordelijk zijn voor de fysieke distributie van zowel het eindproduct als de vervangingsonderdelen.<\/p>\n

Verplaatsing van de logistiek<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Vanuit het distributiecentrum in Bergen op Zoom (Nederland) worden alle Ricoh-zendingen naar en van bestemmingen in EMEA gepland met externe vervoerders. Jacobs heeft de opdracht om de CO2<\/sub>-emissies van de inkomende en uitgaande transporten met gemiddeld 4% per jaar te verlagen. “BigMile geeft ons inzicht in waar de meeste emissies ontstaan, en we nemen de juiste maatregelen. We kijken niet zozeer naar de regio’s, maar onderzoeken de impact wanneer we het transport naar een andere modaliteit verplaatsen”, legt Jacobs uit.<\/p>\n

Als voorbeeld noemt hij een huidig pilotproject. Ricoh transporteert zijn leveringen naar Rusland nu voornamelijk over de weg. De aanbieder van druk- en IT-oplossingen onderzoekt momenteel de mogelijkheid om deze vracht per spoor te vervoeren. “BigMile helpt ons door de scenario’s en de impact op de CO2<\/sub>-emissies te berekenen”, legt Jacobs uit. “We hebben vastgesteld dat de modaliteitswisseling op lange afstanden meer effect heeft. Het transport naar Duitsland gebeurt bijvoorbeeld ook over de weg, maar de afstand tussen Nederland en Duitsland is gewoon te klein om een spooroplossing te vestigen. Het is niet rendabel.”<\/p>\n

Brandstofgegevens<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Om de grootste impact op Scope 3 te realiseren, ligt de focus van Ricoh op het verminderen van CO2<\/sub> bij alle transportgerelateerde activiteiten. Dat is geen gemakkelijke taak, want Ricoh kan hier geen directe invloed op uitoefenen. Jacobs: “We zijn afhankelijk van externe partijen die ons van gegevens voorzien. We ontvangen wel emissiegegevens of rapporten van verschillende transportbedrijven, maar dat zijn statische cijfers. Om deze reden rekenen we nog steeds grotendeels met generieke cijfers. We willen de onderliggende gegevens kennen en bijvoorbeeld met echte brandstofgegevens werken. We hebben vastgesteld dat het moeilijk is om deze gegevens van de transportdienstverleners te verkrijgen. Vooral bij grote bedrijven duurt het lang om de juiste contactpersonen te vinden.”<\/p>\n

Duurzaamheid komt een beetje onder druk<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Daarnaast ziet hij ook dat veel vervoerders nu andere prioriteiten hebben. “Stijgende containerprijzen, Covid-19 en een tekort aan chauffeurs krijgen momenteel meer aandacht dan duurzaamheid. Ze hebben andere dingen aan hun hoofd dan de CO2<\/sub>-belasting.” Jacobs hoopt dat de wetgeving en de voorschriften op Europees niveau worden geregeld: “Op dit moment doet elk land nog zijn eigen ding. Het zou veel helpen als het probleem op Europees niveau wordt geregeld.”<\/p>\n
