De Raad van Toezicht van Lufthansa Cargo in Duitsland heeft besloten te investeren in de belangrijkste logistieke locatie voor de luchtvrachtsector in Frankfurt\/Main. De start is nog dit jaar en de uitbreiding zal stap voor stap plaatsvinden tot 2028, terwijl de operatie doorgaat.<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Frankfurt\/Main) Lufthansa Cargo zal het logistieke centrum op haar thuisbasis Frankfurt modulair verder ontwikkelen en vernieuwen. De Raad van Toezicht van het Duitse luchtvrachtbedrijf heeft de bijbehorende investeringen in een uitgebreid infrastructuurprogramma voor het logistieke centrum goedgekeurd. De volledige modernisering van het Lufthansa Cargo Center is al in januari 2021 begonnen en zal in 2028 worden afgerond.<\/p>\n

\u201eMet deze vernieuwing van ons logistieke centrum investeren we in onze luchtvrachtlocatie Frankfurt en cre\u00ebren we de bouwkundige voorwaarden voor een nog snellere en effici\u00ebntere luchtvracht. Hiermee maken we ook de werkplekken van onze medewerkers op onze belangrijkste logistieke locatie in Duitsland toekomstbestendig\u201c, legt Peter Gerber, CEO van de vrachtluchtvaartmaatschappij, uit.<\/p>\n

Flexibel inspelen op klantbehoeften<\/strong><\/h5>\n

\u201eHet bijzondere aan ons infrastructuurprogramma is dat het flexibel kan inspelen op marktontwikkelingen en veranderende behoeften van onze klanten\u201c, benadrukt Harald Gloy, COO van Lufthansa Cargo. \u201eDe holistisch ontworpen verbetering van de gebouwinfrastructuur in combinatie met verbeteringen van het logistieke systeem en de interne materiaalstromen zullen de omloopsnelheid van de zendingen en de servicekwaliteit voor alle klanten van Lufthansa Cargo verder verhogen.\u201c<\/p>\n

Het vrachtcentrum in Frankfurt is het thuisbasis van Lufthansa Cargo, waar ongeveer 80 procent van haar wereldwijde vrachtvolume wordt afgehandeld. De inzet van de luchtvaartmaatschappij op het gebied van digitalisering, nieuwe productvereisten en de toenemende betekenis van eCommerce hebben de eisen aan het logistieke centrum veranderd. In de eerste fase van het modulair geplande infrastructuurprogramma wordt momenteel de bouw van het centrale hoogbouwmagazijn in het Lufthansa Cargo Center uitgevoerd. Naast nieuwbouw worden ook bestaande gebouwdelen en magazijnen gemoderniseerd in het kader van het acht jaar durende infrastructuurproject. De renovatie en vernieuwing van de gebouwen vindt plaats terwijl de operatie doorgaat. Door de modulaire aanpak zullen klanten geen hinder ondervinden.<\/p>\n

Lufthansa Cargo AG<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Met een omzet van 2,5 miljard euro en een transportprestatie van 8,9 miljard vrachttonkilometers in 2019 is Lufthansa Cargo een van de wereldwijde leiders in het transport van luchtvracht. Het bedrijf heeft momenteel ongeveer 4.500 medewerkers wereldwijd. De focus van Lufthansa Cargo ligt op de Airport-to-Airport-activiteiten. Het netwerk omvat ongeveer 300 bestemmingen in meer dan 100 landen, waarbij zowel vrachtvliegtuigen als vrachtcapaciteiten van passagiersvliegtuigen van Deutsche Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings en SunExpress, evenals vrachtwagens worden gebruikt. Het grootste deel van de vrachtactiviteiten wordt afgehandeld via de luchthaven Frankfurt. Lufthansa Cargo richt haar Corporate Responsibility-inspanningen op de duurzaamheidsdoelen van de Verenigde Naties (VN). Lufthansa Cargo heeft zich ertoe verplicht om vijf geselecteerde duurzaamheidsdoelen in haar bedrijfsvoering te verankeren en tot 2030 een substanti\u00eble bijdrage te leveren aan het bereiken van deze doelen. Lufthansa Cargo is een honderd procent dochteronderneming van Deutsche Lufthansa AG en de specialist in de logistieke activiteiten van de Lufthansa Group.<\/p>\n
