Da allora, treni e camion vengono gestiti quotidianamente nella nuova struttura, che consente un collegamento diretto tra l&#8217;hub interno per l&#8217;industria manifatturiera e il porto di Savannah. Secondo Griff Lynch, presidente e CEO della Georgia Ports Authority, la nuova sede amplia la portata del porto di Savannah fino nel profondo del nord-est della Georgia. I produttori della regione beneficiano di un collegamento ferroviario senza soluzione di continuit\u00e0, che collega oltre 40 arrivi settimanali di navi con mercati globali.<\/p>\n<p>Il Gainesville Inland Port offre ai mittenti un&#8217;alternativa a un viaggio di andata e ritorno di quasi 1000 km con camion, riducendo il numero di camion sulle strade della Georgia e nell&#8217;area di Atlanta. I cancelli per camion gestiscono quotidianamente tra 14.000 e 16.000 movimenti, con tempi di transito per viaggi doppi inferiori a 50 minuti e per viaggi singoli di 30 minuti.<\/p>\n<p>La GPA collabora con Norfolk Southern per il nuovo servizio. A pieno regime, il Gainesville Inland Port raggiunger\u00e0 una capacit\u00e0 annuale di 200.000 container. Per minimizzare l&#8217;impatto del nuovo terminal merci sulle comunit\u00e0 locali di Gainesville, la GPA ha investito 4,8 milioni di dollari in progetti stradali nella Hall County.
