La nave <em>M\/V Afros<\/em>, che \u00e8 il primo cargo bulk carrier dotato di rotori a vela, ha completato con successo il suo secondo controllo intermedio dopo oltre otto anni di operazioni continue. L&#8217;ispezione, condotta il 13 aprile da Lloyd\u2019s Register presso Jiangsu Watts Energy &amp; Engineering Co., ha confermato che i quattro rotori a vela della nave sono strutturalmente integri e non si sono verificati problemi operativi. Questo fornisce una conferma indipendente della durabilit\u00e0 e dell&#8217;affidabilit\u00e0 a lungo termine dei rotori a vela di Anemoi.<\/p>\n<p>I rotori a vela sono stati installati a bordo del cargo bulk carrier Ultramax da 64.000 DWT, gestito da Blue Planet Shipping, nel gennaio 2018. Da allora, i rotori a vela hanno dimostrato nella pratica che i sistemi di propulsione a vento (WAPS) possono ottenere risparmi di carburante e riduzioni delle emissioni nel lungo periodo. Questi risultati sono particolarmente rilevanti, poich\u00e9 dimostrano che i rotori a vela possono essere integrati senza problemi nei modelli commerciali regolari.<\/p>\n<h3>Prove di prestazioni a lungo termine<\/h3>\n<p>Nick Contopoulos, co-fondatore e Chief Commercial Officer di Anemoi, ha commentato i risultati dell&#8217;ispezione: &#8222;Il successo del secondo controllo intermedio del cargo \u00e8 un momento importante, non solo per Anemoi, ma anche per l&#8217;intero settore delle tecnologie di propulsione a vento. La conferma indipendente di Lloyd\u2019s Register dopo oltre otto anni di operazioni dimostra che i nostri rotori a vela non sono solo un concetto di decarbonizzazione, ma rappresentano una tecnologia durevole, pratica e commercialmente utilizzabile per la flotta globale.&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>In totale, la nave ha risparmiato 1.340 t di carburante e ridotto 4.980 t di emissioni di CO\u2082 durante 154 viaggi, mentre la disponibilit\u00e0 operativa \u00e8 stata superiore al 95% dalla sua installazione. Inoltre, la nave ha effettuato circa 200 approdi portuali, sottolineando la compatibilit\u00e0 con le esigenze del commercio commerciale e delle operazioni portuali.<\/p>\n<p>I rotori a vela sulla <em>Afros<\/em> hanno un diametro di soli 2 m e un&#8217;altezza di 16 m, pi\u00f9 piccoli rispetto ai modelli attuali di Anemoi, che misurano 5 m di diametro e 35 m di altezza. I risultati corrispondono a circa 1,33 t di carburante risparmiato per vela e giorno operativo, avvicinandosi alle prestazioni delle ultime installazioni di Anemoi. Questa forte correlazione dimostra che i risparmi dimostrati in questo caso sono trasferibili anche a sistemi commerciali pi\u00f9 grandi.<\/p>\n<p>Grazie ai guadagni di efficienza ottenuti, la nave \u00e8 riuscita a ridurre la sua valutazione nell&#8217;IMO Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) di circa il 4,2%, prolungando la conformit\u00e0 ai requisiti internazionali di efficienza energetica e migliorando il suo profilo normativo.<\/p>\n<p>Nikos Apodiakos, amministratore delegato di Blue Planet Shipping, ha sottolineato: &#8222;Dalla sua messa in servizio, la <em>Afros<\/em> ha servito 32 diversi noleggiatori, dimostrando che il sistema di rotori a vela \u00e8 accettato dai clienti commerciali e non comporta svantaggi per le operazioni nel mercato spot. Siamo naturalmente lieti della valutazione positiva del sistema di rotori a vela e ottimisti riguardo ai potenziali risparmi sui ricavi e sulle emissioni per il restante ciclo di vita attivo della nave.&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;installazione \u00e8 stata anche la prima applicazione del sistema di guide longitudinali di Anemoi, che consente di riposizionare i rotori a vela durante le operazioni di carico, garantendo al cargo bulk carrier piena flessibilit\u00e0 nella gestione del carico.
