Tra queste, cita lo Stretto di Hormuz, il Golfo Persico, il Golfo di Oman, il Mar Rosso e il Canale di Suez. La deviazione delle navi cargo intorno al Capo di Buona Speranza comporta un allungamento dei tempi di transito, che possono variare da dieci giorni a due settimane.
