Il contratto segue l&#8217;annuncio del governo australiano nel novembre 2024, che ha selezionato la LST 100 come design preferito per il programma delle Landing Craft Heavy (LCH). Questa decisione \u00e8 stata presa dopo un processo di gara competitiva.<\/p>\n<p>Il design della LST 100 \u00e8 stato scelto per le sue comprovate capacit\u00e0 operative e la sua storia di impiego di successo. Un modello precedente \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stato costruito e consegnato, portando a una maggiore accettazione internazionale, inclusa la selezione da parte di NAVSEA per la United States Navy.<\/p>\n<p>Negli ultimi anni, le organizzazioni di difesa hanno adottato sempre pi\u00f9 design navali collaudati e in servizio per ridurre il rischio del programma e accorciare i tempi di consegna. Utilizzando piattaforme consolidate con un bilancio operativo dimostrato, \u00e8 possibile ridurre le incertezze tecniche e accorciare i tempi di sviluppo.<\/p>\n<h3>Produzione a Henderson<\/h3>\n<p>Le navi saranno costruite da Austal nell&#8217;ambito di un contratto strategico di costruzione navale di 15 anni con il governo australiano. In totale, otto Landing Craft Heavy dovranno essere consegnate nell&#8217;arco di dodici anni, con l&#8217;inizio della costruzione previsto per quest&#8217;anno. La costruzione avverr\u00e0 a Henderson, utilizzando le strutture di Austal e dell&#8217;AMC CUF, a 23 km a sud di Perth. Il complesso gioca gi\u00e0 un ruolo importante nel supporto dell&#8217;economia locale ed \u00e8 attualmente in fase di ammodernamento per consentire grandi progetti navali di difesa nei prossimi anni. Damen sottolinea che l&#8217;azienda \u00e8 orgogliosa di portare la propria esperienza e artigianato in questo progetto di costruzione navale australiano, che migliorer\u00e0 le capacit\u00e0 delle forze armate, supporter\u00e0 la sostenibilit\u00e0 e promuover\u00e0 lo sviluppo regionale.<\/p>\n<p>Il programma delle Landing Craft Heavy supporta il contributo dell&#8217;esercito australiano alla Strategia Nazionale di Difesa 2024, che mira a migliorare la capacit\u00e0 dell&#8217;esercito di condurre operazioni agili, distribuite e littorali come parte di una forza integrata. Le nuove navi aiuteranno l&#8217;esercito a proiettare, supportare e rifornire le forze terrestri attraverso gli accessi settentrionali dell&#8217;Australia e nella regione circostante.<\/p>\n<p>Ogni nave avr\u00e0 una lunghezza di 100 m e una larghezza di 16 m e sar\u00e0 in grado di trasportare oltre 500 t di veicoli militari e attrezzature.
