Dear readers,
Aristotle Onassis coined the phrase – probably not only because of Jackie Kennedy Onassis – that you shouldn’t chase money, but go and meet it. The Greek shipping magnate knew what he was talking about. His words resonate for subsequent generations of investors and providers of venture capital. Logistics, previously something of a Cinderella, has now been transformed into a sought-after bride, with many a prince queueing up for its favours. Read more about developments on page 13.
We’ve also focused on Italy in this issue. The enlarging of Swiss tunnels has resulted in greater volumes of north–south traffic between the Benelux region and northern Italy (page 16). The Trieste Maritime Terminal has issued an invitation to tender for the extension of its molo VII quay, and Italian forwarders are increasingly opting for commercial vehicles powered by LNG, LPG and methane (pages 17 and 18). Our journey also took us to Apulia, at the ‘heel’ of the ‘boot’, where airfreight issues go beyond ITA Airways and also affect southern Italian hubs such as Taranto airport.
Enjoy your read!
