ITJ 43-44 / 2023

Dear readers,

‘All aboard for Singapore’ is the watchword for those of us working in the airfreight sector, as Messe München is hosting its first air cargo industry event focused on Southeast Asia there, from 1 – 3 November.

From there we’ll speed on to Miami, where the long-established Air Cargo Americas trade event will take place from 31 October to 2 November. We at the ITJ have made our choice – both Singapore and Miami.
Both events promise to be interesting, as global air freight volumes have increased for the first time since February 2022 compared to the same month in the previous year, according to Iata’s latest statistics for August.

Total demand was only 1.5% higher than in August 2022 though – +6.2% for Latin American airlines, +4.9% for those from the Asia-Pacific region and –1.2% for North America carriers.

Iata CEO Willie Walsh pointed out, however, that we shouldn’t forget that the industry is just about to commence its peak season activities.

Here’s to a stimulating read!
