23-26/2019 Invigorating exchange

The Munich exhibition grounds witnessed a rather impressive array of industry players strutting their stuff at the beginning of June. The Transport Logistic trade fair attracted more than 2,300 exhibitors and around 64,000 visitors, thus once again confirming that the event represents our industry’s international gold standard. Many of the protagonists joyfully entered the competition to see who could offer the best digital expertise. Dancing robots, live demonstrations of software solutions and elaborate virtual reality landscapes vied for visitors’ attention. The encounters in the halls, however, were completely analogue, of course. Personal conversations and direct contact with people remain the basis for successful customer relations.

The scene was thus set for the action at the ITJ’s stand. We were happy to welcome many clients, partners, representatives and interested visitors during the four days of the fair. Most of them were pleased to help themselves to the 124-page special trade fair edition of the ITJ. We’re proud of the ongoing interest in our 80-year-old journal – it motivates us to maintain our standards.

It’s up to you to decide whether we’ve once again adhered to our benchmarks in this latest issue. Our Iberia / Latin America Special takes centre stage, addressing the booming logistics scene in and around Barcelona, and Latam Cargo’s care for big cats, amongst other news. Austrian professor Markus Peschl provides a nice contrast to the usually hectic pace of logistics business in an interview that reveals how he thinks the industry has to prepare for new technologies and why empathy is one of the key characteristic for top managers.

Here’s to your enjoyable read!
