Tobias Markert takes the helm


The board of directors has appointed Tobias Markert as the new managing director of Basel-Mulhouse airport. He will take office on 1 April 2025 and succeeds Matthias Suhr, who will be taking early retirement after ten years at the head of the airport.

 

After twenty years in the aviation industry, Markert brings extensive experience in airport operations, management of major investment projects and development of new business activities.

 

Markert has worked at various airports in the Zurich Airport Group since 2004. From 2004 to 2010, he worked at Zurich Airport. From 2010 to 2017, he was COO and CCO of Curaçao Airport. From 2017 to 2020, Markert assumed overall responsibility as CEO for Florianópolis Airport (Brazil). Since 2020, he has been in charge of the entire portfolio of airports managed by Flughafen Zürich in Latin America. (cj)
