Key priorities for the logistics sector


At its recent general assembly, the European Association for Forwarding, Transport, Logistics and Customs Services (Clecat) elected Dimitri Serafimoff, representing Forward Belgium, as its new president, succeeding Willem van der Schalk (DSLV).

 

The assembly also welcomed new board members, including Joël Glusman of TLF Overseas as chair of the Airfreight Logistics Institute and Tomas Arvidsson of Sifa as chair of the Railfreight Logistics Institute.

 

At the event, Clecat presented its key policy ambitions, which included maintaining the EU’s climate targets, such as achieving a 90% decrease in emissions by 2040 and net-zero emissions by 2050.

 

The commission’s agenda also contains aims to reduce bureaucracy, with plans to cut reporting obligations by 25% and simplify permit rules to alleviate regulatory burdens on businesses. (cj)
