Zero-emission locos for the Betouwe route
Northrail is leasing four "zero-emission" shunting and medium-haul locomotives of Vossloh’s new DM 20-EBB model to the Dutch rail transport company RTB Cargo. The locomotives are part of the framework purchase agreement for 50 DM 20-EBB.
The delivery of the first DM 20-EBB, scheduled for October 2024, will mark the start of a three-month test operation. The other three locomotives are set to follow in Q4/2025. The locomotives will be mainly deployed in the port of Rotterdam and for hinterland traffic via the Betouwe route to Germany.
Northrail claims that it is currently the only rental provider in Europe to provide these newly developed "zero-emission" locomotives. (ben)
