Zeebrugge achieves new draught record
The Belgian port of Zeebrugge reached a new milestone this week with the arrival of the ‘MSC Mina’, setting a record draught of 16.4 m.
On 8 April the 400 m vessel (23,656 teu) docked at CSP Zeebrugge as part of MSC’s new Lion service, linking the Far East with Zeebrugge and Antwerp. The exceptional draught highlights Zeebrugge’s infrastructure and reinforces the port of Antwerp-Bruges’ status as a gateway for the world’s largest containerships.
MSC plans weekly calls with vessels exceeding 16 m draught. Marc Beerlandt, CEO of MSC Belgium, hailed the achievement, stating that “it strengthens our global position and confirms Zeebrugge’s readiness for the largest vessels.” CSP Zeebrugge’s commercial manager, Nancy Van Osselaer, praised the milestone as proof of the terminal’s continuous investment in operational excellence.
