Yang Ming’s growing capacities
The shipping company Yang Ming, founded in 1972, started operating the ‘YM Together’, a newly-built 11,000 teu container vessel chartered from Shoei Kisen Kaisha and built by Imabari Shipbuilding in Japan.
The ship will be deployed in Yang Ming’s PN3 trans-Pacific operation between Asia and North America. To facilitate medium to long-term operation, Yang Ming has partnered with professional shipowners for the construction of fourteen 11,000 teu container vessels.
This newest ship, the ‘YM Together’, is the ninth unit. It has a capacity for 11,860 teu and 1,000 plugs for reefer containers. It is 333.9 m long and 48.4 m wide. (sh)
