Yang Ming's fleet growing
A charter is the most recent newcomer in Yang Ming's fleet. The new 11,800 teu container vessel, “YM Throne”, belongs to Shoei Kisen Kaisha and was built by Imabari Shipbuilding. The naming ceremony took place at Imabari Hiroshima Shipyard, while Yang Ming’s attendees joined the festivities remotely at their Taipei office.
The liner said in a press release that in order to "to further strengthen Yang Ming’s medium- to long-term operational efficiency, the company has commissioned a total of fourteen 11,000 teu newbuildings through long-term charter agreements with ship owners."
Now, “YM Throne” is the thirteenth in the series and will be delivered on 31 August 2022.With a length of 333.9 m, a width of 48.4 m, a draft of 16 m, these vessels are designed to cruise at a speed up to 23 knots. The port rotation for the newcomer’s first voyage in the PN3 service is Hong Kong - Yantian - Shanghai - Pusan - Vancouver - Tokyo - Kobe - Pusan - Kaohsiung - Hong Kong. (sh)
