XXL job in Rostock
A Liebherr HLC 295000 crane is currently being manufactured at the port of Rostock. With a maximum load capacity of 5,000 t, it is the largest offshore crane the company has ever built.
Another enormous crane - a TCC 78000 - is also being developed and built in Rostock. It will be used to lift the HLC 295000 onto a jack-up rig after completion. A self-propelled MSPE, built by the Italian company Cometto, was deployed by Krebs Korrosionsschutz to transport the TCC 78000’s 362 tonne, 105 m long boom with a width of up to 15 m.
Jörg Neuhäusel from Krebs outlined the vehicle combination for the journey: “The boom was moved on 24 axle lines of a Cometto self-propelled MSPE in a so-called open assembly, arranged side-by-side. The two vehicle combinations were 60 m apart.” (mw)
