Win-win for German carrier and Swiss start-up
DB Cargo and Swiss start-up MFD Rail have formed a strategic partnership, signing a long-term lease agreement under which DB Cargo can lease up to 2,400 freight wagons of various types for intermodal railcars from the newly-established intermodal specialist MFD Rail.
The delivery of the first batch of 710 wagons has begun and will continue until 2023. The innovative agreement gives DB Cargo flexibility in its expansion and more options to shift freight from the roads to the railways.
For MFD Rail it offers the opportunity to participate in the growth of its largest customer and to pursue its own ambitious growth targets, the firm said. (ben)
