Willem van der Schalk hands over
Willem van der Schalk will retire from his position as managing director at the Hamburg based freight forwarder and family-owned company a. hartrodt Germany on 31 March 2021.
His duties will be divided among the three executives: Thorsten Drunagel (left) will lead the sea, freight and land transport segments and Hendrik Khezri (right) will be responsible for air freight and sales. Sebastian Endt took over as regional managing director Eastern Europe already on 1 January 2021. Van der Schalk will continue to support the company in an advisory capacity.
Van der Schalk took the helm at the core company a. hartrodt Germany in 2002, with additional responsibility for Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and the Indian subcontinent. He started his career with an apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade merchant and then began a dual training as freight forwarding agent and business economist.
During his 43 years at a. hartrodt, van der Schalk also served as general manager airfreight Stuttgart (Germany) and as managing director Belgium in Antwerp. (amh)
