WIL: working towards inclusion

3 June 2024 marked the launch of the Women in Logistics consortium (WIL), which has been established by ten parties in an attempt to promote more inclusion within the industry.

The consortium is led by Dow and H. Essers but enjoys the support of two sector associations (Ecta and Cefic) and the six other industry players Bertschi, Den Hartogh, Suttons Tankers, Lyondell Basell, Eastman, and Covestro.

Spurred by a gender imbalance within the logistics sector, WIL is looking to promote diversity and, in the long run, enhance the performance of businesses. The consortium will first focus on Europe’s chemical logistics sector, attempting to bridge the gap by leveraging the participating companies’ expertise. Initially, it will concentrate on three target groups, namely drivers, operators, and leadership, after which it will widen the scope of its project. (mk)
