When the chemistry in Chennai is right
Rhenus' Indian affiliate has opened a new chemical multi-user warehouse in Chennai, close to the Bay of Bengal. The facility will serve as the company's central distribution hub for chemical customers in southern India.
The PCB (pollution control board)-approved warehouse covers a surface of 33,500 sqm of storage space for chemical cargo. It is located in a logistics park and features eight loading and unloading bays with hydraulic dock levellers, as well as a ground plus 7-level racking system and a capacity of 10,270 pallet positions.
Since it deals with chemical cargo, the warehouse has fire-rated walls, beam detectors and a NBC-approved sprinkler system as part of its safety infrastructure.
The new facility expands Rhenus' warehousing space in India to 670,000 sqm, with more than 2,000 professionals in 69 locations in the Subcontinent. (sh)
