What's next for Walmart?
Walmart has opened its newest consolidation centre in Minoka, Illinois (USA). The main emphasis of the over 45,000 sqm facility will be on automation and logistics technology. From this site, Walmart plans to run consolidation operations to accelerate the moving of products to store shelves. The automated technology can enable three times more volume to flow throughout the hub.
It is Walmart’s third high-tech consolidation centre and will bring almost 700 jobs to the area. It will also provide small or medium-sized suppliers in the region with the opportunity to ship to all 4,700 Walmart stores.
In addition to this expansion, Walmart has made donations to various local causes, aiming to invest and bolster business in the Minooka area. (mk).
