Weekly block trains from Greece to North Macedonia
Starting on 6 September 2023, the new regular container block-train service will connect the Port of Thessaloniki in Greece and Skopje, the capital of the Republic of North Macedonia, initially on a weekly basis.
It will depart from Thessaloniki every Wednesday and arrive in Skopje on the same day. The new intermodal service is the result of a cooperation between the Thessaloniki Port Authority and eleven private and public organisations.
The new offering will significantly reduce transport-related CO₂ emissions and allow to further develop the connectivity of the port and its intermodal network, bringing Thessaloniki closer to customers in Southeast and Central Europe, the port authority said. (ben)
