Weekly bimodal Central Asia service launched
Maersk has introduced a new transport service. It combines ship and rail and offers an end-to-end solution for Central Asia with a particular focus on Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The new service aims to enhance the efficiency of cargo transport particularly for consumer, lifestyle, and tech products to and from this region. It will later be used as a basis to expand Maersk’s logistics portfolio in the neighbouring countries such as Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, the company says.
Maersk already runs a comprehensive rail and ocean-rail network from South-Eastern and Eastern Asian countries to connect these markets to Central Asian destinations through China. (ben)
