"We're ready for more (cargo) traffic"
The largest airfield renovation project in Lithuania's aviation history will be officially completed at Vilnius airport (VNO) this month.
During the three-year reconstruction (EUR 36 million), new taxiways were upgraded and installed, surfaces were modified and widened and environmentally friendly solutions were introduced. The project was completed on time and without disrupting the airport’s normal operations.
Marius Gelžinis, general director of Lithuanian Airports, which also operates the airports of Kaunas (KUN) and Palanga (PLQ): "The works will reduce the impact on the environment, we will be able to attract new carriers and expand our route network. It also makes it easier to ensure smooth cargo transportation and further improve conditions for business partners." (ah)
