Warning against high expectations for EU-UK trade review
The British International Freight Association (Bifa) is urging caution regarding expectations for the upcoming review in 2026 of the trade and cooperation agreement (TCA) between the EU and the UK. While discussions with “warm words” are ongoing, there’s little clarity on potential policy changes, as the association reports.
Bifa director general Steve Parker (pictured) noted that both sides remain committed to implementation of the TCA, with no strong push for major adjustments, particularly in customs procedures.
Businesses have already invested significantly to adapt to post-Brexit trade processes, and further changes may take time. Bifa advises members to remain realistic and to recognise that major reforms may not be immediate. (js)
