Wan Hai Lines welcomes newbuilding
On 5 March the ‘Wan Hai A01’, a 13,200 teu newbuilding, sailed into the Chinese port of Qingdao on its maiden voyage. The Qingdao Port Group arranged a watergate ceremony for the vessel’s arrival at the terminal.
The ‘Wan Hai A01’, 335 m long, 51 m wide and with a draught of 16 m, was constructed in the HHI Ulsan Shipyard (South Korea). It can sail at a maximum speed of 22 knots. The containership meets the highest level of requirements for the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI). On top of that, the unit is certified with ‘Smart Ship’ notations.
The ‘Wan Hai A01’ will be deployed between the Far East and the west coast of South America. (lh)
