Waggons from China arrive in Hamburg
HHLA Project Logistics (HHLAPL) coordinated its first shipment in the port of Hamburg, marking a milestone in its operations. The subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), which specialises in project cargo for Asia, managed the transfer of six oversized passenger railcars and their bogies from ship to rail for transport to Czechia. The railcars, weighing between 20 and 47 t each, were mounted on rail tracks after customs clearance.
HHLAPL collaborated with the firm Unikai Lagerei- und Speditionsgesellschaft to handle the goods at the Wallmann terminal and the O’Swaldkai.
Managing director Korneli Korchilava emphasised the environmental benefits of shifting transport to the railways. The debut highlighted HHLAPL’s capabilities and reinforced Hamburg’s role as a hub for project logistics. (pb)
