Wärtsilä enhances nautical training in UAE
Wärtsilä has supplied its latest simulator technology to the Sharjah Maritime Academy in the United Arab Emirates. This advanced simulation facility, recently inaugurated, strengthens the academy's position as a global maritime training, innovation, research, and development centre.
The suite includes navigation, engineering, communications, and vessel traffic services (VTS) simulators, offering a comprehensive range of training and research tools. Two full mission navigational bridge simulators with 360° visualisation, offshore-specific bridge systems, and Wärtsilä's new simulation bridge equipment configuration are part of the setup. Additionally, the facility features the world's first commercial maritime mixed reality chromakey vessel handling application.
The academy aims to offer high-quality training and research, enabling students to meet international standards in maritime transport. The inauguration was attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, chairman of the Sharjah Maritime Academy. (pb)
