VTG wins German "modal shift" award
VTG has been awarded the German “Verkehrswendepreis" by the non-profit rail alliance Allianz pro Schiene. The prize honours the wagon hire company’s efforts to support the modal shift to more eco-friendly means of transport. The award is part of the "Verkehrswende konkret" project, which is sponsored by the federal environment agency and the federal ministry for the environment.
The independent jury recognised the innovative power and great potential for implementing the modal shift of the 'road rail link' (r2L) technology and selected the project as a best practice example for sustainable transport and mobility.
In cooperation with logistics provider Vega International and vehicle manufacturer Kässbohrer, VTG has developed a solution to make previously non-craneable semi-trailers ready for rail transport. The r2L basket makes 97% of all non-combinable truck trailers craneable. (cj)
