VRR launches first concept model of inflatable ULD
During last week's Iata World Cargo Symposium, VRR launched its first concept model of the inflatable AKE container. For the Dutch services provider this product is an answer to current overstocks and understocks of ULD caused by the international air cargo trade imbalance.
The 69 kg container can be automatically folded out within 30 seconds by use of air pressure and expanded to its final shape. When releasing the air, it can be collapsed within two minutes by only two people. Folded containers can be shipped in stacks of up to five units on the lower deck of regular wide-body aircraft.
VRR expects to have the final certified version of its inflatable AKE container available by Q1 2020 and to start series production in 2020. See more packaging solutions in upcoming ITJ 13-14/2019, distributed during the Packaging Innovations show held on 10 and 11 April in Zurich! (ah)
