Vienna warehouse adopts AutoStore

Cargo-partner, a subsidiary of Nippon express holdings, is introducing the AutoStore system at its iLogistics Center near Vienna Airport, making it the first freight forwarder in Austria to implement this automation technology. The system is set to meet increasing demand for logistics solutions, as the company reports.

The AutoStore system, supplied by Hörmann Intralogistics, optimises storage space by stacking containers compactly and allowing mixed-product storage. Robotic handling accelerates order processing by bringing items directly to employees.

The system will be installed on a mezzanine level, covering 500 m² and accommodating up to 21,030 containers. It includes seven robots, multiple workstations, and an integrated warehouse management system.

Following initial training and system activation in January, cargo-partner will begin loading storage containers, conduct performance tests, and expand staff training. Full operational rollout is scheduled for mid-2025. (js)
