Via Trans-Siberian from Japan to Europe in just 11 days
About a third of all traffic on the Trans-Siberian Railway consists of freight on routes to and from Japan. Last year a record volume of more than 45 million t of freight was transported, while container shipments are growing at a faster rate of more than 11%.
"We are trying to provide new services and are reducing delivery times on the Japan-Europe route," said Oleg Belozorov, head of the Russian Railways (RZD) recently at the V Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
RZD has already reduced the delivery time to Poland to 19 days. According to Belozorov, RZD now plans to reduce transit times via the Trans-Siberian Railway to about 11-14 days. (ben)
