'Vanguard': a breakthrough in river-sea gas transport
HGK Shipping has developed the "Vanguard," the first European river-sea gas tanker designed for transporting liquefied ammonia and CO2, crucial for the hydrogen-based economy.
The 125 m vessel is equipped with a diesel-electric "future-fuel-ready" engine and wind assisted propulsion system (WAPS) to enhance sustainability.
The 'Vanguard', which will operate on rivers and coastal waters, offers an alternative to pipelines, aiding the European Green Deal by supporting CO2 removal and ammonia delivery for green energy production. The design also minimises transhipment risks, improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness. (pb)
