Vancouver intermodal hub opening in 2021
Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) and Maersk have reached an agreement to build and operate a trans-loading and distribution facility in Vancouver. The CP facility will be an expansion of its existing Vancouver intermodal centre and will thus benefit from turn-key railway infrastructure.
The partners will apply Maersk's global strategy to integrate container logistics there, and will offer customers access to a multi-commodity trans-loading facility that will substantially rely on the railways instead of trucks in the Vancouver market.
CP will shuttle containers to and from the marine terminals by rail. The import facility will be operational in 2021. (ben)
