Van Moer acquires Antwerp East terminal
The Belgian company Van Moer Logistics has taken over the majority share of the Antwerp East NV terminal, which is located in a strategically favourable position directly on the Albert canal and in the centre of the fast growing industrial zone of Grobbendonk (Belgium). The terminal was launched in 2013 as a greenfield project by DP World (80%) in cooperation with the Antwerp port authority (20%).
CEO Jo Van Moer: "By acquiring the lion’s share of Antwerp East we want to actively shape the future development of the terminal. It was constructed with close links to various goods flows in Flanders and can be run as a resource-efficient inland port with barge services to Antwerp and Rotterdam (Netherlands), which will substantially reduce truck traffic."
