USD 280 million upgrade at Nador West terminal
CMA CGM and Marsa Maroc have entered a 25-year joint venture to equip and operate half of the Nador West Med container terminal, overseeing 750 m of quay and 35 ha of container yard. Together, they aim to achieve a 1.2 million teu annual throughput through a USD 280 million investment, enhancing the terminal with eight transhipment cranes and 24 electric RTGs.
Strategically located in the Gibraltar zone, Nador West Med is set to become a key bunkering hub for synthetic fuels like e-methane and e-methanol, leveraging Morocco's green hydrogen capabilities.
This partnership strengthens CMA CGM's longstanding role in Morocco's logistics sector, enhancing connections in Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean. (pb)
