US short line rail road expands in Pennsylvania

Reading & Northern Railroad (R&N) has acquired a campus in Carbon County (Pennsylvania, USA) consisting of a complex of nine buildings and a number of heavy cranes systems that can lift equipment of varying weights. The facility is situated in the middle of the R&N 640 km rail system in Pennsylvania.

R&N has continually expanded in this region over the last years. In 2020, the carrier finished the construction of the new Nesquehoning Bridge Phase 2, purchased the Carbon County rail line and upgraded its track.

The privately held railroad company serves over 75 customers in nine eastern Pennsylvania counties. It handles, inter alia, over 34,000 carloads of freight and owns almost 1,800 freight cars. (ben)
