US railroads pilot emergency dispatching system
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) and emergency management agencies in Sumner County, Tennessee have jointly piloted the addition of Askrail data to their emergency management dispatching system.
By training and working with dispatch centres, all first responders who arrives at the scene of a rail emergency can be assured they will have the right information to react to the incident effectively, AAR said. The test pilot is just the first step to expand access to Askrail.
A similar pilot is planned in Canada before the programme is rolled out across North America. Through these combined efforts, the AAR expects to double the number of first responders by the end of 2023. (ben)
