US container imports on the rise
Descartes System Group (DSGX), a Canada-based multinational technology company that provides logistics and supply chain management software for the logistics industry, has released its global shipping report for May 2023. This monthly benchmark analyses the US import data in all ports, the main economic and logistics factors pushing global shipping and the strategies.
In this report for logistics and supply chain professionals, DSGX shows that the US container import volumes in April 2023 increased significantly from March 2023, with an uptick of 9.0% to 2,020,197 teu. A large part of the imports are from China.
Compared to April 2022, teu volume was down 17.8%, but up 5.3% from pre-pandemic April 2019. Despite overall volume increases, delays were reduced at all ports. (lh)
