US class I railway to open intermodal terminal
The new hub will offer a rail option between ten ocean ports in the Los Angeles Basin and the USA's fast-growing Southwest.
Owner and operator Union Pacific Railroad (UP) plans to open the intermodal terminal in the heart of Phoenix in Q1/2024. The new facility will be located in the company’s own downtown rail yard, with capacity to grow.
Drayage support will be provided by Duncan & Son Lines, a family-owned logistics firm, that primarily focuses on international container drayage from the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
The new terminal further expands UP’s intermodal footprint, the rail company said. UP operates one of the largest networks in North America, with direct services from coast to coast. (ben) www.up.com www.duncanandson.com
