US class I railroad transforming operations
At the annual meeting of Norfolk Southern’s shareholders, James A. Squires, the US class I railroad's CEO, announced that his company is to revamp all possible aspects of its business.
He said: “We are moving full speed ahead with a new plan for the future that provides a clear path.”
The railway’s new three-year strategic plan, which was recently presented, is driving transformational changes at the company. The plan is based on an operating model known as precision scheduled railroading. In Q3/2019, Norfolk Southern wants to roll out its new Top21 operating plan to drive improvements across the company’s 22-state rail network. (ben)
