Upward trend for OOCL in 2019


The carriers' reporting season has got off to a good start. Based on the group’s internal records and management accounts not yet reviewed or audited, the Hong Kong-headquartered shipping company OOCL has published its figures for Q4 and for the last twelve months.

 

In Q4/2019, total volumes rose by 4.8% up from the same period in 2018, making it a strong ending of the year. Revenues increased by 2.3% to USD 1.6 billion. The fleet grew in size, since the loadable capacity went up by 2.6%. The overall load factor was 1.8% higher than in the same period in 2018. Nevertheless, overall average revenue per teu transported decreased by 2.4% compared to the fourth quarter of last year.

 

For the full year of 2019, total volumes increased by 3.8% over the same period last year and total revenues recorded a 5.2% growth. Loadable capacity increased by 4.0%. The overall load factor was 0.1% lower than the same period in 2018. Overall average revenue per teu increased by 1.3% compared to the same period last year. Cosco and SIPG acquired OOCL in 2018 for USD 6.3 billion. (mw)
