Upward trend for CM Port's foreign trade
The Hong Kong-based China Merchants Port (CM Port) has reported its results for the full year 2022. In total, the company's ports handled 136.5 million teu, up 1.1% compared to 2021. Total dry and bulk cargo throughput was at 547 million t, down 3.6%.
During the operator's annual results press conference, many journalists asked about the company’s foreign trade situation in 2023. Most of the company's managers were reassured by the results at the beginning of the year, which have stabilised. Global trade has been weakened in the past years and CM Port was obviously affected by this.
Nevertheless, CM Port says it has achieved "fruitful results in internationalisation" and made "positive contributions to the sustainable development of the regional economy and the stable operation of the international supply chain." (lh)
