Upswing for US railcar industry
The US railcar supplier Greenbrier received orders for 4,500 new railcars with an aggregate value of USD 580 million during its fiscal second quarter ending on 28 February 2023.
Orders for the quarter included tank cars, automobile-carrying railcars, boxcars and covered hopper cars, and were consistent with Greenbrier's expectations for the period. Greenbrier expects revenue of about USD 1.1 billion, deliveries of 7,200 units for the fiscal Q2/2023.
The latest business development demonstrates its strong market position in freight railcar sales, leasing and services, Greenbrier said. The company, its subsidiaries and joint ventures build and market freight railcars and marine barges in North America, Europe, and Brazil. (ben)
