Upswing for Qatar Ports
Qatar's ports witnessed growing volumes in October. 330 vessels visiting the Port of Hamad, the Port of Ruwais and the Port of Doha led to a rise in throughput of 17% last year, as Mwani, the port owner and operator, reported.
The three ports handled almost 128,500 teu, 37,000 t of general cargo, 6,000 vehicles and 38,000 t of building materials over the month. The Port of Hamad handled 123,924 teu, 30,270 t of general cargo, 5,665 vehicles, and 1,768 heads of livestock.
The highest increase in calls was at the Port of Hamad with an uptick of 30.8% in October and 21.8% in September. Throughout H1/2020, the Port of Hamad, the Port of Ruwais, and the Port of Doha registered a 102% increase in general cargo handling. (cd)
