UPS strengthens healthcare logistics
UPS is expanding into healthcare logistics with the acquisition of Frigo-Trans and BPL, which gives its access to the companies’ cold chain networks in Germany and beyond. With the takeovers, UPS hopes to meet the growing demand from the pharmaceuticals industry for reliable cold and frozen supply chains.
Frigo-Trans supplies warehousing solutions for six different temperature zones ranging from cryopreservation at -196°C to ambient storage at +25°C, while its sister company BPL provides healthcare logistics throughout Europe. The deal is set to close in Q1/2025. The companies can thus begin to build on a pan-European cold chain transport network. (mk)
